This study estimates that by 2015, more than 15.5 million Americans 65 and older will live in communities where public transportation service is poor or non-existent. It also ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by the quality of their transportation services.

Findings include: Apartment size positively relates to life satisfaction in the young-old but negatively in the old-old. For the old-old, neighborhood quality and outdoor place attachment are matter more than for the young-old. Living with others relates to life satisfaction only for the young-old.
